Expert Instructional Designer

The primary purpose of this role is to establish and implement Academy-wide standards, processes, and methods for all aspects of instructional design, including translating curriculum designs in to course materials, determining proper event types for blended learning, and participating with divisional teams to execute on ID strategies. The Expert Instructional Designer will work closely with the Lead Curriculum Designer and with divisional Education Development teams on key Academy initiatives: product upgrade/releases, new Allscripts product rollouts, and on-going new Academy offerings. The role will have the challenge of continuously envisioning new course offerings to maximize client value, develop a strong Allscripts Academy brand, and to secure and increase the revenue stream for Allscripts.
Responsibilities
This Expert Instructional Designer resource will work with the Avenel EHR teams to create content appropriate for the client experience and for a mobile platform.
Instructional Design Standards:
Creates, implements, and maintains the Allscripts Academy Instructional Design Process Guide. The Guide documents Allscripts Academy's standard processes and templates for each stage of the instructional design process: translating curriculum designs into Reusable Information Objects (RIOs) and Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs), scoping and blueprinting courses according to adult learning and instructional design theory/principles and audience needs, creating assessment and evaluation designs, and other instructional design tasks
With the Expert Instructional Technologist, defines learning event types and establishes standards by which blended offerings work together. Establishes data-driven methods of determining the proper blended solution, based on audience and event type definitions
Assigns skills and competencies according to course designs
Develops client-facing Instructional Design standards to be used in Client and Partner Education Development Strategy Workshops
Coaches Divisional Instructional Designers on the Academy Instructional Design standards, and ensures they are adhered to
Provides RLO/course data for and participates in an evaluation process that will allow Allscripts to determine business impact and ROI of new education development
Divisional Execution:
Oversees the rollout of Allscripts Academy Instructional Design standards and principles; trains divisional Instructional Designers on design standards and collaborates to create standard content flows for product-specific courses
Works closely with divisional Instructional Designers to translate curriculum designs into a shared portfolio of reusable learning objects from which all forms of learning courses will be developed: classroom, virtual classroom, and self-paced e-learning
Guides the organization of RLOs into courses to meet various audiences' and programs' needs; assists divisional Education Developers in creating course blueprints and storyboards
Collaborates with Lead Instructional Technologist and divisional Designers in the development of all education materials, including Lesson Plans, Student Guides, Instructor Guides, PowerPoint Presentations or other visual aides, skills checks and assessments, and self-paced courseware modules
Guides and participates in reviews of course blueprints and storyboards
Oversees effective evaluation and assessment practices to allow Allscripts to determine satisfaction with and effectiveness of courseware and supporting materials
Develops internal/external customer relationships with Allscripts Academy teams, Business Leaders, HR T&D teams, Allscripts Customers and Partners so that they are fully involved and their needs/views/feedback are proactively incorporated to courseware and supporting material development
Participates in client strategy workshops and training sessions, as needed.
People Management:
Responsible for ensuring the Allscripts Academy Instructional Design standards are adhered to across all business divisions
Ensures measurably effective Instructional Designs to secure client satisfaction and effectiveness of training
Along with divisional Education Development Managers, oversees the work of divisional Instructional Designers
Acts as support and review board for Instructional Designers' work; works with divisional Management to coach and mentor developers
Key Performance Indicators:
Courseware and supporting development strategy produced and implemented within scope and timeframe agreed
Courseware and supporting materials production cycles met including off shore development
Courseware and supporting materials kept up to date
Internal and external customers satisfaction scores
Client and employee satisfaction survey results
Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 6 years experience as an Instructional or Curriculum Designer in IT
Experience:
iOS standards and experience creating content for mobile platforms strongly preferred.

Moderate experience with graphics editors, such as such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro
Strong demonstrated ability to apply adult learning and instructional design theory and principles, and to identify and correct design issues according to design principles
Mature analytical skills, as evidenced by the ability to solve problems, identify improvement opportunities, and create effective action plans
Information design acumen required; experience developing metadata and/or XML systems preferred
Thorough understanding of IT training development for both ILT and non-ILT delivery channels
Ability to write clear and accurate technical documents describing processes and standards
Strong relationship-building skills, including superb communication skills at all levels of the organization and with clients/partners
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously
Experience working with blended learning development, rapid development processes, and Learning Management System (LMS) administration
Experience managing instructional design projects in a global and matrix environment preferred
Travel Requirements:
Domestic travel is required and will average 50%.
Ad Hoc global travel will be required throughout the year to maintain strong partnerships with team members, internal/external customers, program stakeholders, vendors and business partners
Working Arrangements:
Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
Substantial time is spent working on a computer

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
